Lightness Training might rightly be considered the original Weightlessness Training. In the first chapter of In Pursuit of Weightlessness, Tom recounts his life changing experience in the jungle of Koh Phangan, Thailand, where he set out to integrate the disparate elements of his training to date - strength and structural conditioning, flexibility, and meditation.
The Birth of Weightlessness chapter details his unexpected, transcendent experience as a direct result of practicing Lightness Protocols - minimalistic training modules comprised of four core practices - limit strength training, dynamic stretching, ballistic weight training, and qigong energy work. While each of these has origins in other classical mind body arts, the organization, implementation, and approach to training is fundamentally distinct in Lightness Training, and exceedingly effective.
Realizing, after many failed attempts to teach Lightness over the years, that effective training at that level requires a substantial mind body training foundation. Tom spent years reverse engineering the path to Lightness. That path is now called The Weightlessness Spectrum - the model of growth and integration underlying our 12 Week Mind Body Performance Program - The Weightlessness Process.
While Lightness Training taps deep human potentials and generates sustained sensations of physical lightness and psychological freedom, at its core, its about translating the static principles of performance of the W spectrum into dynamic, high pressure settings for high performers.
